5 tips to calm your nerves before laser eye surgery
It’s normal to feel a little nervous before any kind of surgery, but laser eye surgery is usually quick and relatively painless. Still, if you’re feeling anxious about your upcoming procedure, here are five tips to help you relax.
1. Understand the Procedure
One of the best ways to calm your nerves is to simply understand what will happen during the surgery. Reach out to us for an assessment and we will answer any questions you have. This will help to put your mind at ease.
2. Talk to Someone Who’s Done It
If you know anyone who has had laser eye surgery, talk to them about their experience. Hearing first-hand accounts can help you better understand what to expect and give you some peace of mind. You can also check out our Facebook reviews for real examples of people who’ve had treatment with us.
3. Visualize the Results
It can be helpful to close your eyes and visualize how amazing it will feel to finally be able to see at your full potential. Imagine having clear vision without glasses or contacts—it’ll be worth it!
4. Breathe Deeply
Deep breathing is a tried-and-true method for reducing stress and calming nerves. Whenever you start to feel anxious about the upcoming procedure, close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth until you start to feel more relaxed.
5. Trust Your Doctor
Remember that you’re in good hands! Our doctor would not be performing the surgery if they didn’t know it is safe and necessary. Trust that they know what they’re doing and everything will be just fine.
