Can I have LASIK if I have dry eyes?
Hi, it’s Dr. Chotiner from Memorial Eye Institute. When I tell people I’m a LASIK surgeon, some of them ask me: “Can I have LASIK if I have dry eyes?”
The short answer is your dry eye syndrome needs to be under control before you can get LASIK laser vision correction.
You can manage your dry eye symptoms with artificial tears or eye drops.
Following treatment, dry eyes usually clear up after a few weeks or months, and very few people consider them to be a long-term problem.
The best thing you can do is to discuss your concerns about lasik with dry eyes at your consultation. This way, we can then find the best options for your dry eyes. This will hopefully put your mind at ease.
