Can LASIK correct age-related farsightedness?
Hi, it’s Dr. Chotiner from Memorial Eye Institute. When I tell people I’m a LASIK surgeon, I often get asked: “Can LASIK correct age-related farsightedness?”
The quick and simple answer is… YES!
Whether you’re farsighted, nearsighted, or have astigmatism, LASIK can help you get rid of glasses and contact lenses.
Good candidates for this surgery are people between 20 to 50 years old with a moderate and stable corrective lens prescription.
If you’re farsighted and don’t qualify for LASIK due to having thin corneas, PRK surgery may be a good option for you.
This procedure uses an excimer laser to remove and reshape a thinner layer of the cornea. While the method is slightly different, the results are similar to LASIK.

We look forward to hearing from you!
