Can you drink alcohol after LASIK?
Hi, it’s Dr. Chotiner from Memorial Eye Institute. When I tell people I’m a LASIK surgeon, some of them ask me: “Can you drink alcohol after LASIK?”.
Having a drink after laser eye surgery is not going to have any effect on your results. However, our recommendation is that you don’t drink immediately after LASIK.
This is because you will have taken a sedative before the surgery and there can be an interaction between the sedative and alcohol.
You’ll be very relaxed already and I suspect you won’t need any alcohol.
The next day, after LASIK surgery, once the sedative has worn off, it is absolutely fine to have a normal amount of alcohol.
