What are the refractive lens exchange risks?
In this video, Dr. Erik Chotiner discusses the refractive lens exchange risks.
Fortunately, refractive lens exchange is one of the safest and most common procedures performed worldwide. However, no procedure is without risk.
Over 99% of patients have a very smooth and uncomplicated recovery. A very small percentage has a mild post-operative complication that delays the healing but does not result in permanent damage.
For instance, some individuals may experience a prolonged course of inflammation in the eye that may take a bit longer to heal. The risk of a serious complication such as an infection is extremely rare, less than one in 5000 people.
