What is presbyopia in the eye?
Hi, it’s Dr Chotiner from Memorial Eye Institute. When I tell people I’m a LASIK surgeon in Harrisburg, some of them ask me: “What is presbyopia in the eye?”
Presbyopia is a condition in which your eyes lose their ability to focus as you get older.
This condition results in blurred vision when you look at objects close up and can make it difficult to read books or use a computer. The problem is in the lens of the eye, which progressively ages and gets less flexible with age.
After the age of 40, most people begin to develop presbyopia in the eye, so they develop the need for reading glasses.
As long as you’re in good health with no history of relevant medical problems, Blended Vision LASIK or lens replacement is a good choice of treatment for this common eye condition.
