What is the most common cause of farsightedness?
Hi, it’s Dr. Chotiner from Memorial Eye Institute. When I tell people I’m a LASIK surgeon in Harrisburg, some of them ask me: “What is one common cause of farsightedness?”
The number one cause of farsightedness is that eye is too short and the cornea flatter than normal. When that happens, it produces an image that is realistic, but blurry because everything comes into focus too close together. That causes distant objects to look distorted and blurry.
The good news is that we can now correct farsightedness with a quick and easy LASIK procedure that can make the cornea more curved, thereby changing how the light enters the eye. That produces a clear and sharp image, without the need for glasses and contact lenses.
